November already! Today I’m recapping last week’s workouts (which wasn’t much…) and I’m linking up with HoHo Runs and MissSippiPiddlin’ for their Weekly Wrap link up.
This past week was a bit of an off week for me, but I’m not also not officially training anything right now. I’ve been struggling with working out after work, now that is practically dark when I get home. Plus this past week I was working 10+ hour days each day. It usually takes me a few weeks to adjust to the earlier sunset. By mid-November I’ll be following a loose training plan to do some base training. That will get me back into a rhythm, which should help!
Tuesday- 10 minute core work
Thursday- 10 minute core work
Friday- 4 mile run with Kim at our usual spot! Kim recently returned to running after baby #2 and I’m so glad to be getting back out there with her. It was a perfect day for running, too!
Saturday- Cross training: Jillian Michaels ‘No More Trouble Zones’ workout DVD and 10 minute core work. I’m still sore and probably will be through most of this week.
I also gave the dogs baths (which is a workout for my back) in the afternoon and then handed out candy to the beggars!
Sunday- Rest. I drove nearly 8 hours to and from West Virginia to celebrate my Nana’s 90th birthday with her and our family. I had considered doing a short run or workout when I got home, but I was pretty sleepy so I decided to just take another rest day and regroup this week.
My goals this week are to run more and get in some quality cross training workouts. No more than two complete rest days!
Do you struggle with your workout routine with the limited daylight hours? How do you deal with that?

I”m glad for the time change–I’m a morning runner, and I don’t like running in the dark. It was getting tough for me to get anything much done before work!
It’s all about perspective when it comes to the time change! Morning runners love it and evening runners are dismayed. But we’ll get our revenge when we spring forward 😉
Dark when I leave for work and dark when I get home. No wonder Bears hibernate.
I don’t blame them!
I love the picture looking up at the fall trees. When I bathe my dogs, my back always hurts too! I guess it’s the leaning over. I try to bribe the kids to do it, but then I don’t think they get a good enough cleaning. I’m so accustomed to running weekdays in the early morning dark that it feels funny doing anything else. Good luck with your regrouping week, Meagan and thanks for linking up with us!
My dogs are pretty big, but my back still hurts afterward! Do you get any daylight in the morning for your runs with fall back?
Giving candy to the beggars–ha ha! Love the owl pumpkin.
Thank you! The attempt at an owl pumpkin was new for me this year! I usually just do a smiling pumpkin with triangle eyes and a nose.
That reminds me I so need to give our little dog a bath! He stays inside in his cage at night because well he can’t be trusted to not pee on the floor like our other dog can. He’s outside most of the day and can get so dirty! You still had good week being active at least you didn’t sit on the couch! I’m glad for the time change in the mornings since I’ve been getting in my runs then. I will not like it in the afternoons though. Have a great week!
Well there was definitely plenty of sitting on the couch last week 🙂 Luckily I did a lot better this week!
I never washed the dogs as a kid, but my parents were always sore the day after. The dogs made them work for it, then made them pay.
It’s definitely a big job, but they smell so good afterwards and are so soft!
It’s tough being motivated to do anything in the evening when it’s dark out. I’m already counting the days until our days start getting longer again, and we still have about seven weeks until the winter solstice!
It really is! Once I get back into a regular routine it’s not as difficult, though. This time of year can be so busy that I bet winter solstice will be here before we know it!
It’s nice to have a laid back week every once in a while. Your pumpkin turned out cute! We didn’t have a lot of trick or treaters here. I’m excited about the time change. I run in the mornings and I’m looking forward to a little daylight before I finish.
Very true, and a good thing to remember! I know you morning runners love fall back 🙂 Us evening runners prefer spring forward!
