Weekly Wrap – Sept. 21 – 27

I’m linking up today with HoHo Runs and MissSippiPiddlin’ for their Weekly Wrap linkup.

This past week was a lighter week for me on the workout side of things. I had run the Hokie Half on Sunday, and I had the Virginia 10 Miler coming up six days later, on Saturday. So I kept things pretty easy during the week.

Monday – Rest. It was the day after the half marathon. My back and legs were a bit sore, but not awful.

Tuesday – Cross training. Just some light core work, a circuit of sit ups, push ups, and a plank x 3.

Wednesday – Rest. I had planned to do a short, easy run but worked late and was really tired when I got home.

Thursday – Easy 3 miles in the evening after work. It was a really nice evening outside, and I enjoyed the weather. The weatherman was calling for rain all weekend, and actually said after sunset on Thursday we wouldn’t see the sun again until Tuesday morning. So I made sure to enjoy it.

Friday – Rest.

Saturday – Virginia 10 Miler. It was cold and rainy, but I had a good race! I even got to run the whole thing with my friend, Jessie. Full recap coming soon.

Sunday – Cross training. Just some light core work – sit up, pushups, planks, etc. again. I had thought about doing another short, easy run or some light yoga. But my right Achilles tendon was sore and a bit swollen after the race, so I took it easy.

How was your week last week?
Who else had a rainy weekend?
Anyone else race this past weekend?

  1. It was very nice all week for us but the rain moved in Sunday afternoon, I’m not going to complain too much we so needed the rain! Everything is so dry here! You walk out to the barn and with each step it looks like your stepping in powder as a puff of smoke comes up. Not good! Good week for you after your race and look at that smile, can’t wait to hear how it went! Thanks so much for linking up with us and your continued support!

    1. We needed the rain, too, but then we got too much of it! 14.5 inches over three days, followed by five more days of heavy rain. Yikes! Glad y’all got some rain, and I hope it was able to seep into the ground a bit!

  2. We actually had a really great weekend, weather wise, so I was pretty bummed when clouds rolled in just in time for the blood moon last night. Of course, they cleared out right after it was all over!

Can’t wait to hear about your race. You’re such a trooper in bad race conditions!

  3. It was just overcast and gloomy where I live. The rain held off until today. I hope your Achilles is better soon. I’ve dealt with that before. You were very wise to take it easy. Right now I have a sore foot. So frustrating! Our city is hosting a 10 miler in November. That’s one distance I’ve never done and I hope I can participate. I look forward to your recap. Thanks for linking with us!

    1. That sore foot is bad timing! I hope it’s feeling better. I hate having to take time off when something gets sore, because I feel like I lose so much fitness/endurance.

  4. Saturday was pretty here. Sunday was overcast and the rain came Monday. I hate wet races, but I’m glad to hear your 10 Miler went well despite the weather. I can’t wait to read your full recap!

    1. I always grumble about weather conditions for races (why can’t they all be 51 degrees, breezy, and partly cloudy??) but when it comes time to race I somehow just deal with it. Like a switch goes off. Not sure how I got that way, but I’m glad for it.

    1. That’s great that y’all got good weather that weekend! I know Chicago can be very windy, and the wind is one thing that can really irritate me 🙂
