It’s Wednesday and that means it’s time for another Wednesday Word! Each week, Debbie from Deb Runs hosts this weekly link up and this week’s word is focus.

When you have something in life that is troubling you, or a situation that is hard to deal with, it’s easy to dwell on it. You put all of your focus on it, and let it seep into all areas of your life. But sometimes the best way to solve a problem or work through a situation is to take a step back. You need to stop focusing on it so much to work things out. For me, running helps immensely with this.
When I am dealing with something in life, going for a run helps me process everything. Sometimes it just gives me the release I need to let go. Other times, it allows me to shift my focus to the simple act of running and get my mind off of things for a bit. Often, the solution will come to you when you’re not dwelling on the problem.
How do you work through trials and tribulations in your life?
Meagan, we were thinking with the same brain when we wrote our “focus” posts! I agree, running has always had such a great effect on smoothing out the rough spots of whatever’s going on in life. It’s one way that it makes me a better person.
Running definitely makes me a better person, too!
Running is definitely a way for me to work out what’s going on in my life!
What would we do without it??
I did this yesterday. Lots of frustration now at work caused by other people and I needed to unwind after I got home. I got on the treadmill and worked it out.
I’m glad you were able to work things out with a run! Thank goodness for running, right?
I am definitely one that focuses on problems a bit too much. Dare I say dwells on them? Running definitely helps clear my head for a bit. Sometimes I just need a total break though, like reading or watching a movie to get my mind off whatever is bugging me.
I like doing other things, like watching a movie, to get my mind off of things, too!
I’ll leave the house sometimes moody and irritable. But I always come home in love with everybody and everything. It’s the best therapy.
Isn’t it great how running can improve your mood??
Not thinking about a problem is almost always the solution but it can be really hard!
It can be! That’s why it’s so important for people to find something, like running, that allows them to get their mind off of things for awhile.
All the quotes and sayings to the effect of “Running is cheaper than Therapy” or I run to keep from killing people, you know the ones, all true! It does so much more to our brains. The release, the thought process, I don’t know but it just works. After a run I often figure out the answer to the problem I started with. Great post!
They are very true! I would probably be a basket case without running 😉
Running is absolutely the best way for me to mull over an idea, or focus on a problem. Great interpretation of the word, as always! And thanks for linking up!
We should do a scientific study on how many problems have been solved and how many ideas have come from running!
