1. I’ve had a pretty decent week of running so far. I got in 3 miles on Tuesday, 4 miles on Wednesday, and 3 miles yesterday. It really feels good to get back into a regular routine.
This weekend, I’ve got plans to meet up with Kim for a long run and to hit up the trails!
2. This past week was Virginia Agriculture Week. Seeing as how I’m married to a dairy herdsman, and I also work in the agriculture industry, I figured it was worth mentioning. Agriculture is the biggest industry in the state, so it’s a big deal.
When I was at Tech, our College of Agriculture t-shirts in school said “Where would you be without agriculture? Naked and hungry.” And when you think about it, that’s about right!
3. Annabelle continues to grow. We haven’t officially started working on halter breaking her, but she has had a halter on a few times. She’s not a big fan… and that’s putting it lightly.
Jerseys are famous for what we call “the Jersey flop.” When you put a halter or lead on them, they will lay their head on the ground and flop their body over (it’s a little scary looking). Then they lay on their side with their legs sticking out straight. Sometimes they’ll even roll their eyes into their head and quiver. I can only describe this strategy as “Maybe if they think I’m dead, I won’t have to comply.” We are not fooled, Annabelle.
4. Dogs are just plain fun and funny. There’s nothing like being greeted with a wagging tail when you get home – whether you were gone 5 minutes or 5 hours. Like most dogs, our dogs do a lot of things that make us laugh. Case in point: I gave Hank a piece of popcorn the other day and he contemplated it for nearly 5 minutes before finally eating it.
It was like he was expecting the popcorn to make a run for it or something!
5. It snowed and sleeted yesterday. Seeing as how today is the first official day of spring, I’m really hoping that was our last snow for the season!
However, it is not uncommon for us to get snow as late as mid-April. But then again I think it was in the 70’s in mid-April last year at the Blue Ridge Half. I’m hoping for some nice low-50’s, partly cloudy days.

What funny things do your pets do? When we have the dog’s bones on top of the fridge, Scout will deliberately stare at the top of the fridge and then at us, back and forth repeatedly.

I love Fall weather. Since I started running I’ve appreciated the spring much more than ever before, too. I love the onset of warmer weather!
Annabelle has quite the personality, for sure! She and Scout (our smaller, brown dog) are still best buddies.
Annabelle cracks me up! I had no idea cows did that. At least you knew so you didn’t think she had a stroke or something! Our dog Lily knocks on the door when she wants in from outside. Like a person, rap-rap-rap.
Agriculture is pretty important here, too. Mostly corn and cows! What are the main things in your area?
That’s very polite of Lily. Hank and Scout both punch the door repeatedly when they want in! Corn and cows here, too. Other parts of the state are bigger in things like tobacco and poultry. In our area coal mining is big, too, which often gets lumped in with Agriculture.
My favorite weather is low to mid 70’s with low humidity. Annabell cracks me up!
