I’m linking up again today with Debbie for her Wednesday Word link up! Click on the button below to join in and see who else is linking up today.
Each week Deb provides us with a word prompt to write about. This week’s word is delirious.
The word delirious sounds a little extreme to me, but the definition actually sounds a bit tamer: wild with excitement. I can think of a few times I’ve been wild with excitement….
Going to Disney World as a kid.
Waiting for Santa to come on Christmas Eve (also as a kid).
Graduating high school and going off to college.
Jumping up and down and waiting for the Hokies to run onto the football field.
Walking down the aisle to marry Barry.
It seems crazy to say that I was delirious leading up to or during these events. But wild with excitement? I’d say that’s pretty fitting. Those are all pretty big events in life (I’m a Virginia Tech fan… don’t tell me a football game is not a big life event. It is. 🙂 ). I’ve got plans with Barry this weekend that I’m also wild with excitement about. Apparently it doesn’t take much for me to get excited anymore.
This weekend, as part of an early birthday celebration for me (about 10 days early), Barry and I are going to Claytor Lake State Park to go stand-up paddle boarding and kayaking! I’ve always wanted to try stand-up paddle boarding (Deb tried it recently, too!) and this weekend we’re finally going to give it a go. I can’t wait!
Have you ever gone SUP boarding or kayaking?
Do you still get wild with excitement over things, even as an adult?
When you stop getting excited you have given up. There is always something to look forward too.
LUD.
One of my favorite things about visiting family in Massachusetts is getting to SUP on the calm, beautiful bay near their house. Have a wonderful trip!
Stand-up paddle boarding is a lot of fun. I suggest you find a no wake cove to paddle in. The boat traffic on the main body of the lake can be heavy this time of year.
I was running on the trail from Draper to Hiwasee yesterday, and I thought that area would also be a great place to SUP.
I think “jumping up and down and waiting for the Hokies to run onto the football field,” is the perfect example of being deliriously excited! Good one!
So how did you like paddleboarding? Fun, huh?
As always, thanks for linking up!
What an amazing way of celebrating a birthday! I wish I could do that too!
