On Friday I had a very exciting day. I went to work and then I came home and cleaned. Living the high life, right? I spent the majority of my Friday evening giving Hank and Scout baths, cleaning our bathrooms, and dusting the bedrooms (including the ceiling fans which only get dusted about once a year and they were dusty!). Did I mention we’re hosting Thanksgiving at our house? We did this last year, and I love hosting. It’s probably a good thing, because otherwise the ceiling fans would never get dusted!
I did end the night by watching Hunger Games with Barry in preparation for Catching Fire, even though I know the first movie by heart. I tried to have a photo shoot with the dogs but they were not having a very photogenic evening.

This morning I met up with Kim for a 3 mile walk. She’s about 2 weeks from her due date and unfortunately running is off limits now. But I was cool with a walk and glad to hang out with her and catch up (and share all the dirty details from the marathon!). I spent the rest of the morning and part of the day doing some more cleaning. Finally in the afternoon it was time for Barry and me to meet up with Kim and her husband to see Catching Fire! I couldn’t Instagram a picture of my movie tickets with the name of the movie on them like everyone else, though, because we saw it at the $4 theater and they use raffle tickets. But the good news is I purchased two movie tickets, a jumbo tub of popcorn and a soda all for $16! I don’t even think I could get two movie tickets at a regular theater for that price.
After the movie we did our big Thanksgiving grocery trip. Luckily the only essentials the store was out of were pie crusts and butter. They were really low on eggs, too, but that’s not something we have to buy anymore.
One good thing about winter being upon us is the return of clementines! We also lucked out and got the very last store brand turkey breast (way better than Butterball). I’m sure they will get more in before Thanksgiving, but that was the last one they had in the store. It didn’t have a tag on it, so I took it to the meat department to get it weighed and tagged and the employee gave us a discount because of the missing tag! I think I just used up the rest of my luck for this year with that one, but it was totally worth it.

Washing Shrek is totally on my list for tomorrow. Today we washed all Shrek-related bed covers, blankets, and towels (he’s a bit spoiled) and tomorrow is time for a B.A.T.H. (shhhh-he doesn’t know it yet!). Glad you have some good smelling pooches for your guests. We are staying in town and heading to a friend’s house. I love doing Thanksgiving with friends!

I haven’t read or seen any of the Hunger Games but I think I’m going to have to start!! My mom and step-dad are going to visit my grandma so I’ll be crashing Peter’s thanksgiving! His grandma is in town and his dad is a great cook so I’m pretty excited 🙂
I bet you would really enjoy the books. I recommend reading them before seeing the movies. The movies are great too, though! That sounds like fun Thanksgiving plans 🙂 Enjoy!
Miss Phoebe is at the groomer right now. She needs a furminator treatment, her nails ground down, and a good haircut. I can bathe her and clip her nails, but I can’t do anything about her shedding and the haircut she needs. PetSmart is taking good care of her right now.Hope you loved Catching Fire ~ THANK YOU for not giving us any spoilers! Glenn and I are taking Andrew to the theater to watch it with his friends in a few minutes… he’s excited. Miss Phoebe is going to be looking so fancy! Luckily our dogs do not require haircuts, so they just get bathed once per month. We also use a dremel to “file” their nails, but Barry takes care of that. I hope Andrew and his friends enjoyed the movie. I bet they did, because it was a good one!
I’m hosting Thanksgiving and Julie’s family is joining us. Our morning will start with a 10K at a local turkey trot, followed by the Cruisers coming to our house for brunch. It’s become an annual tradition!

We are ready for you, but you’ll probably have to fight Hank for the bed. No worries on the turkey 🙂 I checked the meat inspection stamp and it’s from this year. We’re good!
I can confirm that Zach and I saw Catching Fire at a “regular” theater this weekend and it was $26 just for the tickets…and I also splurged on a $6 (SMALL!!) popcorn. Looks like I’ll be sticking to RedBox from now on! Ha. It was worth it, though!
Yeesh, movies are so ridiculously expensive now-a-days! But seeing a movie like Catching Fire in the theater is definitely worth it, you’re right!
Love the doggie photo shoot! LOL I think dogs are the very hardest thing to photograph of all. You try to get them to look and they come at you! Yay for a discount turkey! Enjoy your dinner!

My parents are hosting Thanksgiving…I’m staying with my parents…It’s KIND OF like I’m hosting, except they did most of the planning and I just provide some labor to help with cooking, then on Thursday will collect coats and ask people if they need drinks. :)Buuuuut I have at least 2 groups of folks who I’ve promised to have over for “Thanksgiving dinner” when I get back to Singapore. My in-laws were disappointed when they learned I was going back to the US and wouldn’t be around to cook a repeat of the previous year’s Thanksgiving dinner, and some of my fellow fitness instructor friend are curious about Thanksgiving food. I love Thanksgiving, and can’t pass up a chance to share with other folks. 🙂 My ceiling fans had better watch out! [Actually, we don’t have any ceiling fans, but I’ve been threatening to wash down all of our doors lately. That may be our fan substitute. 🙂 ]
Taking coats and offering drinks is a very important job 🙂 You better take that seriously! Too cute that your in-laws were disappointed that you wouldn’t be cooking them a Thanksgiving day meal this year. Is it hard to get everything you need to fix a “traditional” Thanksgiving dinner in Singapore? Washing the doors sounds like the perfect ceiling fan substitute, haha. 🙂
