I did it!!
It wasn’t pretty and there was quite a bit more walking than I would have liked, but the main goal for my first marathon was to finish and I met that goal. I completed the race in 5:34 and change. They weren’t kidding about those hills!
We are off to take advantage of our free passes to the Nascar Hall of Fame! I will be back with a full race report in the near future, once I get all of my thoughts together.
Anyone else race this weekend? How did it go!?
Now that I’m a marathoner, who is going to teach me the secret handshake??
whoooo hoooooo!!!! Way to stick with it! Can’t wait to hear about it all! I, unfortunately, am not a member of the club, so someone else will have to share the secret handshake with you =). No races for me this weekend, but a 20 mile run on streets/bike paths which reminded me how much more painful it is to run on those instead of trails. My joints hurt just thinking about 26.2!!!
Thanks, Logan! I think you kind of count as a member, having completed a 50K! That’s a marathon with bonus mileage π
YAY!! Good for you!! Can’t wait to hear all the details.
Thanks, Jan!
Woot! Woot! Welcome to the club. Don’t get hard on yourself at all. 26.2 is far! Cannot wait to hear every detail of this race!
Thanks, Amy! I tried to recap as many details as I could π I don’t know how other people manage to remember so much. For me the last 10 miles or so kind of blurred together.
Congratulations, Meagan! Welcome to the club! How did Barry do?Do you really want a secret handshake from me considering how often I visit porta-potties when I run? π
That makes me laugh, Debbie!! π
Deb you made me laugh out loud! Maybe you’re not the best one to teach me considering your frequent porta-potty trips :)Barry had a decent race (his words). He ran a 4:19 and probably would have come in under 4 hours if he hadn’t started cramping at mile 17.
Whoot WHOOT! Hoping that your calf made it through, as well. :)Given how sweaty I get, you don’t want to learn that handshake from me, either. But I’m always good for a salt tab, if you need one. π
My calf/shin actually didn’t give me a problem at all. Thank goodness!
HEY MARATHONER! You did it!!! Congrats :)Can’t wait to read the race recap!!
Heeey!! Thanks! π
Good for you!!! I am SO happy for you, Meagan! π I’ve been away from the computer all day and I’m thankful you took the time to upload a quick photo. I’m looking forward to your recap and to see how you’re feeling tomorrow! You were thought of often today!
Thanks, Stephanie! I had just enough time to put this up before we needed to meet our families back in Charlotte. Thanks for thinking of me π
Great Job!!! You did it! All that training paid off! We will see if we can get one more run in before it gets all crazy for me π
Thanks, Kim!! I hope we can get in another run together before your bun in the oven arrives π
Congratulations!! Welcome to the club π Can’t wait to hear all about it!
Thanks!!
Welcome to the marathon club!! Congratulations!! I don’t know about you, but my quads are trashed today. And going down steps…OUCH!
Thanks, Nicole! My quads are trashed, too. Going down stairs is very challenging. Big time ouch! I can’t wait to hear all about your race!!!
Congrats!!! =)
Thank you! π
