An easy run and anniversary recap

This evening I went for an easy 4 mile run when I got home from work. My legs are still feeling it from Tuesday’s track workout and it felt good to just run easy and then spend some time stretching. It was hot, hot, hot on my run because I had to run right after work. We met up with some friends for dinner tonight (dinner out two nights in a row… who are we??) so I couldn’t wait until my usual 8-8:30 PM. Speaking of dinner out, here’s a recap from yesterday.

Yesterday evening Barry and I celebrated our third wedding anniversary. We started off with exchanging gifts. I stuck to the traditional gift of leather for year 3 and got him a leather tool belt. He loves when I make him smile for pictures.

We bought our house a little over a year ago and have been in it almost a year now. There have been lots of little projects around the house and I’m sure there will continue to be since that’s just part of home ownership. Now he can have everything with him that he needs!

Barry surprised me with an Edible Arrangements bouquet with cantaloupe, honeydew, strawberries, pineapple, and grapes!

There is no quicker way to my heart than a flower bouquet of fruit!

Once we finished exchanging gifts (and I finished eating some of my gift) we headed out for a special dinner at Olive Garden. I had the Capellini Pomodoro and added grilled shrimp on top.

The shrimp was excellent and the sauce was pretty good, too. It was a light sauce made from Roma tomatoes, basil, and garlic. For some reason it embarrasses me to take pictures of my food when I’m in a restaurant. I don’t think other people even really care so I’m not sure why it’s a big deal to me. But I can tell you that I whip out my camera, take the picture as quick as I can, and then put my camera away.

Do you ever get embarrassed when taking pictures for your blog? Or if you don’t blog, do you ever get embarrassed when you’re taking “touristy” pictures?

How often do you eat out?
We don’t go out to eat too often. We mostly save that for special occasions.

When you do a hard workout how long does it take for you to recover?
I’m usually sore for 2-3 days after a track workout.

  1. When I was with Julie and Kelly, I didn’t care about taking pictures of food or weird things cause they knew it was for the blog. Peter isn’t too sure about it and sometimes I do get embarrassed around other people!I eat out too much. Buying a meal for only a few bucks really adds up when it’s like every week. I’m working on sticking to budget next month for it.It has been awhile since I’ve done a hard workout haha. But probably 2 or 3 days!

  2. What a cool gift you got! Yum!! I used to always be sore after track, but recently I’m never sore. I’m pretty sure you read my theories of stretching, shoes, etc. but whatever it is, it’s nice!

    1. I have read your theories. Who knows what it is (or maybe it’s all of it) that’s got you feeling good lately, but I bet it sure is nice!

  3. I try not to take too many pictures, and especially of food. It never really seems to look as good as it tastes.Travel causes one to eat out so much that when I’m home it’s the lat thing I want to do. That said, I guess because of travel i eat out too much!LUD.

    1. Food pictures are really hard, and I’m not good at them at all. Some people (food bloggers) are excellent food photographers, though. Same here! After a week of travel for work the last thing I want to do is go out to eat.

  4. I’m glad you had a happy anniversary! Last year we ate out a lot, but we’ve cut back this year. We do Chipotle carry-out on Thursdays and maybe get Subway once over the weekend; otherwise, we might eat out twice a month. I’m getting less self-conscious than I used to be of taking pictures or asking someone to take pictures of our group. Fortunately, my friends are getting used to it!

    1. That’s fun to have a “Chipotle Thursday” type day during the week to look forward to. It embarrasses me to take food pictures in a restaurant, but I will do it for the blog. I have yet to tackle the “ask a random stranger to take my picture” hurdle. Baby steps.

  5. I used to be embarrassed about taking photos – then KMN and I spent 5 months traveling, and I knew tha tif I wanted to capture some memories, I had to get over it! And I also felt similarly about food photos – until I moved to Singapore, where EVERYONE whips out their cameras before the first bite! Now, when I do it outside Singapore (recent trip to US, for example), I laugh at how “Singaporean” I am! 🙂

  6. I love your dress in that photo. at work sometimes people send us edible arrangements as “thank yous” and I am ALL OVER that. I pretend it’s like a fight to the death to see who can eat as much of the fruit as possible. I get super shy and weird about taking photos in public for my blog or for touristy reasons. If you looked through all of my photos on my computer, you would see like 20% of my dog (ha), 60% landscape/nature, 10% touristy cities/etc, and maayyybbeee 10% people, ha. I’m so bad at it.
