Mango smoothies & Color Run tomorrow

I’m not feeling very well today. Last night before bed I noticed my throat was a bit sore and my head was hurting. This morning I woke up and my throat was hurting a lot more, and I also had a headache and I’m just kind of achey all over. I don’t feel awful, but I’d really rather lay on the couch under a blanket than be outside. So I think I’m going to take a rest day today so that I hopefully feel a bit better tomorrow for my race!

Since I’m not feeling well I don’t really have an appetite and I haven’t eaten much today. My throat is killing me, and it even hurts when I yawn. So I stopped in at Sheetz and got a mango smoothie. It was delicious and it felt amazing on my throat! The milkshake/smoothie machine is pretty neat. There’s a freezer down below with frozen cups of milkshake and smoothies. You choose the one you want, peel off the lid, put it in the machine and select what thickness you want (light, regular, extra) and it mixes it up for you.

I actually just called Barry and asked if he could stop and get me another mango smoothie for dinner on his way home. He said he would! Such a good guy ๐Ÿ™‚

In other news, I am (hopefully) running a 5K color run tomorrow! It is the first time they’ve had a color run in town and it’s in memory of a high school senior who was killed last year in a car wreck. The race is called the Color Me Cameron 5K Color Run. I’ve never done a color run before. I’ve heard of them and I think I have the gist of what they are about. I think it’s going to be fun! I’ve got my white t-shirt ready to go.

The only down side is I’m flying solo tomorrow. My running buddy, Kim, is busy this weekend and Barry has to work. Guess I will need to make some friends out on the race course. I mean I have to have someone to take my picture at the end, right?

I had a 7 mile long run scheduled for tomorrow, and the plan was to do 4 miles before the race and then run the race. I’m still hoping to do so, but I will have to play it by ear in the morning. I’m hoping to do everything as planned, though.

Oh and I have something new and exciting to share with you, but you will have to wait until Sunday! ๐Ÿ™‚

Have you ever done a color run? Tell me about it!

Do you run when you are sick?
I typically try and run when it’s just a head cold, but usually do not run if it’s affecting my chest and breathing.
Have you ever used one of those smoothie/milkshake machines?

  1. Aw, sorry you are sick ๐Ÿ˜ฆ Way to go out and do a color run by yourself. I am sure you will make friends who will obviously take your picture. I run if it is a small head cold but once it gets below the head and affects the rest of the body, I know I need a break.

    1. I did manage to make some friends today! ๐Ÿ™‚ They are also running another race that I’m signed up for, so I hope to see them again.

  2. Feel better soon!! I hope you feel well enough to do the Color Run tomorrow! I’ve never done one, but they always look so fun!! Can’t wait to see your photos! If it’s just a head cold, I sometimes still run…but I usually take it on a case by case basis. I so rarely get sick though (like once a year), that I don’t have to worry about it too much. Mango smoothie sounds delish!!!Can’t wait to hear what the surprise is!

  3. I do run when I’m sick. I always feel better after! I really think running helps relieve congestion. Hope you’re feeling better and have a good race!

    1. I usually feel better after a run when I’m sick, too, but I just couldn’t drag myself out the door yesterday. I think it was the right choice because I’m feeling better today!

  4. I’m with everyone here: If it’s in my head (literally or figuratively ๐Ÿ˜‰ ), and I feel up to it, I’ll still run. But if it’s moved down, includes a fever over 99ish, and/or I just feel like sleep would be a better use of my time, I’ll pull the plug.Hope you’re feeling better enough for your runs tomorrow – and flying solo is a great way to make new friends! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thanks, I am feeling better ๐Ÿ™‚ Although Miss Scout (the puppy) did not want me to get an uninterrupted nights sleep last night… oh well. I can’t wait to see your pictures from the Color Run! Is it part of the actual color run series?

  5. I hope you feel better quickly! I usually use the same rule of thumb with running when I’m sick that you mention. I haven’t done a color run, but I’d like to. I’ve seen lots of pictures of friends after that race and it looks fun! Can’t wait to hear what your news is!
